Cassin announce new ice-climbing products

17/12/2009

The Cassin brand of climbing equipment, part of the CAMP group, has announced a series of new products specifically aimed at ice-climbing.

The company said that the idea behind the innovations was to allow maximum freedom to the climbers.

The X-Dry axe is designed for competition, dry tooling and extreme mixed climbing. Its forged blade ensures precision on both rock and ice. The handle is ergonomic with double density and an “X-Grip” system to maximise sensitivity. It weighs 556 grammes.

The new collection of products also includes the X-Ice, whose handle design allows leashless climbing, although leashes are included anyway.

The CC crampon is an ultra light crampon designed for competition, dry tooling, extreme ice and mixed climbing. A modular monopoint system and a minimalist rear section reduce weight (858 grammes) and bulk.

There is also the C14, a 14-point technical crampon for ice climbing, dry tooling and mixed alpine use. It has forged front points, which can be adapted into a monopoint version. They can be inclined with more angles to maximise precision on footholds.
