Dow announces price increase for monomers

The Performane Monomers division of Dow Chemical has announced that it will increase the off-schedule prices of a number of products in North America and Latin America, effective from January 1, 2010.
The products affected are butyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, glacial acrylic acid, 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, glacial methacrylic acid, hydroxy ethyl acrylate, hydroxy propyl acrylate, hydroxy ethyl methacrylate and hydroxy propyl methacrylate.
List pricing for the four Hydroxy products will also be increased by U.S.$0.15 per pound. List pricing will not be increased for any of the other products.
Dow said the increases are necessary by "the continuous cost escalation of key raw materials, primarily propylene, acetone, and ammonia".
