Specialist running retail stores to stock SOLE
21/12/2009
Orthopaedic footwear brand SOLE is to go on sale at specialist London runners’ retail store chain, Runners Need.
Established in 1982, Runners Need prides itself on providing a knowledgeable service to runners of all standards. The store offers in-store treadmills and video cameras to help analyse clients’ running action and ensure that staff recommend the correct running shoes and accessories for each individual.
SOLE will now be part of the product range in all stores across London.
On announcing the development, store manager Brad McGregor commented: “We wanted a structured insole that offered flexible support as well as cushioning. Most other insoles do not offer any structure or the support is too soft.”
Launched in Canada eight years ago, SOLE specialises in creating custom-mouldable footbeds designed to bridge the gap between a mass-produced shoe and an individual’s unique foot shape, for fit, comfort and performance. Its orthopaedic shape holds the foot in a neutral position, ensuring comfort and stability.
The mouldable top layer provides custom support for maximum control and endurance, while a deep heel-cup provides lateral stability to the foot and reinforces the heel’s natural shock-absorbing ability. The customised arch support prevents over-pronation, which can lead to a range of conditions that can occur during running, such as shin splints, knee pain and plantar fasciitis.
“We are confident that SOLE will fill a large gap in the market, allowing the consumer to benefit from all the advantages of a custom-moulded insole, with an economical price tag,’’ said Kris Harley, SOLE UK general manager and sales director.
