A textile manufacturer in central Thailand has been ordered by the authorities to stop production after a gas leak at its plant resulted in the death of one worker.

The leak, of hydrogen sulphide, took place at a production facility run by Thai Rayon in the Nong Khae district in the central province of Saraburi. Four other workers were left in a serious condition.

The provincial authorities told the company to stop production to allow an audit of safety measures to take place.
