Montane to clothe Mountain Rescue staff
UK-based Montane has set itself the ambitious task of raising £50,000 for Mountain Rescue through the sale of a special edition clothing range. Two-thirds of the money raised through the sale of each garment will be donated to the search and rescue group.
A number of technical brands have donated fabrics to be used in the apparel range including Polartec, Pertex and Entrant DT and PrimaLoft. The five products in the collection will be priced between £30 and £100 and will be designed for active mountain use.
Each piece will come in black with a red trim and will be sold as limited-edition items at the Outdoors Show in March at the Birmingham NEC. Montane will also sell the products on its website.
Marketing manager, Tim Butcher, said: “We are acutely aware of the excellent work that Mountain Rescue England and Wales do and wanted to offer some financial support as they rely on donations for 100% of their funding. For a relatively small business like Montane, the only way we could raise a really significant sum was to work with our component suppliers and factories to maximise the donation per garment; as a result this is the biggest ever single fundraising initiative for Mountain Rescue England & Wales. We believe that the combination of an excellent technical product at an attractive price coupled with the charity donation element will prove to be highly desirable for consumers and we will sell out rapidly.”
