Italian courts rule against counterfeit Lycra gear
Two Italian courts recently ruled against the importation of garments that misuse Invista’s Lycra brand.
The Criminal Court of Taranto ruled against the importation of counterfeit hosiery bearing the Lycra brand, while a judge in the Court of Como ruled against the importation of counterfeit shirts bearing the brand.
The first case concerned a shipment of more than 167,000 pieces of hosiery originating from China and destined for Sicily. The second case involved a shipment of 155 packages of women’s shirts, originating from the UK and destined for Prato.
Max Wiesendanger, executive vice president for the firm’s apparel business in Europe and South Asia said: “Invista takes trademark infringement very seriously and we will continue taking actions to prevent illegal production, distribution and trading on our brand name.”
