EOG hosts ispo breakfast event

21/01/2010

The European Outdoor Group’s (EOG’s) Sustainability Working Group (SWG) is inviting ispo attendees to attend a breakfast workshop on February 8 at 8am

The workshop series, which launched at OutDoor Friedrichshafen last July, will give an overview of the SWG work plan and the Eco Index. Topics discussed will include organic fibres, materials and business resources as well as carbon footprint.

Two industry representatives will speak at the event. Dr Klaus Radunsky, head of the Emission Trading Registry Department of the Umweltbundesamt (Federal Environment Agency) in Austria, will provide an update on ISO 14067, which focuses on the carbon footprint of products. Following this, Andy Salm, programme director at Organic Exchange Europe, will give an overview of the work undertaken by his organisation and will highlight some of the newer areas of work they are involved in. He will discuss how brands and retailers are starting to scrutinise their entire textile supply chains from both a social and environmental point of view and how this scrutiny is moving right back to fibre production, whether the fibre is natural or manmade.

Those wishing to register for the workshop should email their name and company name to info@europeanoutdoorsustainability.org.
