O'Neill team rider makes Winter Olympics
O'Neill team rider Janne Korpi made a clean sweep at last weekend's FIS snowboard contest in Canada, winning both the Halfpipe and Big Air events.
The 23-year-old Finnish rider gained the Halfpipe crown on the Friday night ahead of Canada's Jeff Batchelor and fellow compatriot Antti Autti.
The next day, Mr Korpi dominated the Big Air event with another impressive display, pushing Austria's Stefan Falkeis and fellow Finn Jaakko Ruha into second and third place, respectively.
Mr Korpi’s performance ensures he will represent Finland at the Olympic Games in Vancouver next month. After injury ended his ambitions of finishing inside the Top 10 of the TTR World Tour rankings last season, the Finnish boarder is even more determined to regain his place among the world's best riders.
Reflecting on his weekend exploits in Stoneham and his immediate future, Mr Korpi said: "I'm super happy to secure my qualification to the Olympic Games for the second time. I've suffered a few injuries in the last 18 months, so it hasn't been an easy road to Vancouver. But I'm really satisfied with the way I'm riding at the moment; I can drop in at the Olympic Games with a lot of confidence, and I'm hopeful I can do well there."
