Merrell gear helps ‘best job in the world’ winner
Ben Southall, winner of Tourism Queensland’s ‘Best Job in the World’ competition, says outdoor footwear and apparel specialist Merrell’s gear really helped him do the job amid difficult conditions.
Mr Southall has now completed his six-month stint as island caretaker for Tourism Queensland on the Hamilton Islands, Australia, where both he and his girlfriend were piloting Merrell’s 2010 spring-summer collection.
Reflecting on his experiences in Australia, Ben Southall, commented: “I have had the most amazing year working as the island caretaker for Tourism Queensland and I am so grateful to have had this unique opportunity to experience life in the outback. The climate on the Hamilton Islands has also been a great test-bed for Merrell’s specialist spring-summer 2010 outdoor clothing and footwear which has lived up to every expectation I have of the brand. I am looking forward to continuing my work globally with Tourism Queensland and promoting the benefits of getting outdoors every step of the way.”
Jonathan Pennington, UK Marketing Manager, Merrell, added: “Merrell believes in encouraging and equipping everyone to get outside and we are therefore thrilled that Ben is such an avid Merrell fan as he represents everything the brand stands for. Throughout his time as caretaker for Tourism Queensland, Ben has been wearing our key Merrell apparel and footwear as well as supporting our message to promote the benefits of exploring the outdoors.”
Mr Southall will continue to promote Tourism Queensland in the US and Canada this year.
