Adolf Riedl swimwear features Biophyl
Germany-based swimwear manufacturer Adolf Riedl is using Advansa’s Biophyl fabric in its latest range. The company chose the eco fibre because of its UV and chlorine resistance and the soft hand it gives fabrics.
Biophyl is a polyester fibre; however, 37% of the polymer is made from renewable corn. This reduces dependency on oil compared with products made from standard polyester and nylon. The CO2 output during production of the polymer is up to 63% lower than for standard nylon and there is also a 30% reduction in energy consumption.
Advansa market manager, Luciano Colasanto, said: “Biophyl combines the advantages of sustainability with the proven performance of polyester products. As a special plus, this is the first time that the soft hand of nylon has also been attained in a polyester swimwear fabric. In addition, Biophyl absorbs less moisture than nylon does, dries quickly, repels dirt, and is easy-care and long-wearing.”
