Peter Mangione, managing director of consultancy company Global Footwear Partnerships, has given a list of the top ten most popular outdoor footwear brands among US consumers.

Mr Mangione, the former president of the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America, compiled the list based on the market-share each brand commanded in 2008.

The top ten, in descending order, is as follows:

Ugg
Merrell
Timberland
Keen
Nike
Adidas
Columbia
Skechers
New Balance
Vamps.
