Spanish cycling specialist combines Advansa ideas

Spanish cycling gear brand SPIUK has included two fabrics from Advansa, Biophyl and ThermoCool in its Elite summer 2010 collection for men.

Biophyl fabrics offer a soft hand, easy care and good stretch and recovery qualities. According to Advansa, a pronounced kink in the polymer’s molecular structure is the key to its ability to offer these benefits.
At the same time, the support sports brands’ strategies of producing greener products because 37% of the polymers used in Biophyl are made from Bio-BPO, a new, reproducible raw material. These have mainly gone into knitted cycling shirts.

ThermoCool, which has evaporative-cooling and thermo-buffering properties, has been used for fabric inserts to strategic areas of the jerseys.

Advansa’s market manager for Biophyl, Luciano Colasanto, said on announcing the development with SPIUK: “Biophyl fabrics represent more than simply improving the ecological analysis. The outstanding softness of the materials prevents skin rashes, for example, during excessive sporting activity. The technology has been awarded the highest Class 1 Eco-Tex Standard 100 certificate, which also covers the category for baby clothing, making it particularly suitable for textiles worn directly on skin.”

SPIUK manufactures bikewear, helmets, glasses, shoes and other specialist cycling products.
