Advansa in new deal with fencing brand

09/02/2010

Technical fibre and fabrics manufacturer Advansa has announced that it will work with Leon Paul Equipment, a specialist clothing and equipment brand for the sport of fencing, to introduce new, high-tech baselayer garments and socks for practitioners of the sport.

The new products contain Advansa’s ThermoCool technology, which has evaporative-cooling and thermo-buffering properties.

Established in 1921 in London, Leon Paul Equipment has always been, and still is, a
company run by Olympic fencers. The members of the family that owns the brand have competed in 20 Olympic Games and 30 World Championships and have won 25 national titles.

The Leon Paul is the official sponsor of the official fencing associations in the UK and the US, supplying official uniforms to both national teams.

The sports brand’s advertising manager, Ben Paul, said on announcing the deal: “We are always looking for exciting new products. In terms of apparel, the requirements of our clients are protection, as well as functionality, comfort and top quality.”

The UK number one, Richard Kruse, has tested the new baselayer garment. He said afterwards: “With all the protective layers needed in fencing it can get very hot but the venues for fencing are always very cold. Something that keeps me at optimum temperature is ideal.”

For her part, Silvia Toledo, ready-to-wear segment manager for Advansa, said the new products were “exceptional performance clothes”.
