New Santini jerseys contain Biophyl
Italy-based cycling wear specialist SMS Santini has launched a new summer collection of cycling shirts containing Advansa’s Biophyl.
The new short-sleeved shirt is part of Santini’s Biolite range and is made using various technical fabrics produced by Italian knitter Maglificio Corno.
It also contains Biophyl, which is made from yarns based on a special PTT polymer containing a component derived from corn. This reduces the dependency on oil compared with products made from standard polyester and nylon. The CO2 output during production of the polymer is up to 63% lower than for standard nylon and there is also a 30% reduction in energy consumption.
“Besides the ecological aspects, Biophyl products offer its users additional benefits: they are easy to care for, notably soft and offer an excellent stretch and recovery,” says Biophyl marketing manager, Luciano Colasanto. “These characteristics and the consistent quality of the Biophyl fabrics provide a comfortable feeling. Additional outstanding resistance against UV rays and perspiration make this product ideal for sportswear.”
Santini is an official sponsor of the Union Cycliste Internationale and provides jerseys for many participants in the Giro d’Italia and the Deutschland Tour.
