New cotton mill in Turkmenistan

Turkish owners have begun operations in a new cotton mill in the Geoktepe textile complex in Akhal province, Turkmenistan.

The owners have invested $70 million in the new facility, including equipping it with spinning equipment from companies in Italy and Switzerland.

The mill will aim to process nearly 11,000 tonnes of cotton fibre every year and produce 9,500 tonnes of high-quality yarn for weaving and knitting production. The initiative will create 500 new jobs.
