New wetsuit to lower brand’s carbon footprint

Cornwall-based surfwear brand GUL has launched a new wetsuit made using materials and processes that reduce the company’s impact on the environment.

The new suit, the Recore, is made neoprene that has its origins in limestone rather than petrochemicals. It also uses recycled polyester made from PET for the outside mesh, and from polyester enhanced with bamboo for the lining.

“The result is a very warm, flexible suit manufactured with the least negative impact on the environment,” GUL said. It added that the new product was the result of three years’ research and development and that it was proud of the achievement.
