Green shirts for FIFA World Cup
25/02/2010
Football shirts made from post-consumer recycled polyester will be widely on show at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa in June and July.
Nike shirts made from the recycled material went on sale on February 24. The shirts were in the change-colours of one of the biggest names in the sport, the Brazilian national team. Replica versions of the famous yellow shirt with green trim that is Brazil’s first choice will go on sale to the public on May 1. The players will wear elite versions of the shirt, still made from post-consumer recycled polyester, at the event.
In all nine of the 32 teams taking part will wear the new greener shirts from Nike. The others are Portugal, the Netherlands, the US, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Serbia and Slovenia.
