Chinese textile exports expected to fall

02/03/2010

Chinese search engine company Frbiz.com has predicted that China’s textile exports will weaken in 2010.

According to the company, textile exports declined in 2009 as weak demand in the international markets continued, and 2010 exports are expected to follow suit.

Frbiz claims China's textile and apparel exports totalled $17 billion in 2009, down 9.6% year-on-year, with smaller enterprises hardest hit. However, the rate of decline slowed from November, suggesting that a partial recovery could be underway.

The company also believes the competitiveness of China’s textile sector is strengthening, having increased its share of US and Japanese textile imports last year.
