ACIMIT claims textile machinery orders are up
According to ACIMIT (the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers), textile machinery orders registered an increase of 36% during the second half of 2009 compared with the same period in 2008.
In terms of the domestic market, new orders rose 21% compared with the second half of 2008, while export orders rose 45%. Orders from China and India have shown particularly strong increases.
According to ACIMIT president, Sandro Salmoiraghi, it is too soon to read this as a sign that the crisis is over; however, he believes the low point seen during the second half of 2008 is a thing of the past.
