Puma launches new Czech football kits
Puma has extended its contract as official kit sponsor of the Czech Republic national football team. To coincide with the announcement, the sportswear provider also unveiled the team’s new home and away team kits for the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. The firm has partnered with the Czech FA since 1996.
"The long-term partnership with the Czech national team has been instrumental in the continued positive development of the Puma brand in Czech Republic," said Jochen Zeitz, chairman and CEO. He added: "Our relationship with Czech Republic is special, considering we have been sponsors since the first successes of the independent Czech national football team."
The new kits are part of Puma's Power 1.10 collection, which includes its statement football boot the PowerCat 1.10. The colours reflect the country’s national flag: the home shirt is red with blue and white details and the away shirt is white with blue and red details.
The Power technology was made using 3D Motion Analysis, a technique that captures and quantifies human movement. This movement data is incorporated into the design of the jersey so that players use minimal force and energy when moving their upper bodies. The shorts are inspired by both football and boxing, featuring a boxer-like belt as the waistband to give players a bold look, and mesh gussets for improved ventilation and freedom of movement. The socks have a shaped footbed to provide support and protection for high-stress regions along with mesh inserts to provide breathability.
Tomáš Rosický, captain of the team, will also wear the Powercat 1.10 Boot, which uses Puma 3D Power Shooting Technology for better rebound. The Springtech foam in the gills enhances each shot by putting extra power behind the ball as it rebounds off the shoe. The boot absorbs less energy on ball impact, allowing the release of more power. The kicking area is made from soft, thin leather and a synthetic microfibre around the quarter area keeps the boot lightweight, while the bladed studs are configured to offer smooth ground penetration and pressure distribution as well as maximum traction and manoeuvrability.
