Mountain Mama nominated for two Polartec Apex Awards
Producer of technical outdoor maternity apparel Mountain Mama has been nominated for two Polartec Apex Awards. The nominations come just weeks after the company launched its first line at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Marketplace in Salt Lake City (January 21-24).
The items that received the nominations are Clouds Rest, which it claims is the world’s first technical baselayer for maternity, and its Fairview Wrap fleece jacket. Both pieces are currently in production and will be available for autumn 2010.
The Clouds Rest baselayer wicks moisture away and is stretchy for added comfort and freedom of movement. It uses Polartec Power Dry fabric to reduce bulk and to keep the wearer dry in all conditions.
Shaped to accommodate all stages of pregnancy, the waffle-weave material used for both tops and bottoms, is lightweight enough for cold-weather layering and robust enough for lounging or yoga class. It incorporates a curved shirt-front hem with Bellyglove fit to eliminate up-drafts, unflattering draping and exposed bellies. Concealed 12-inch YKK zips prevent drafts getting in while flat-finished seams avoid chaffing and tagless labels eliminate itchiness. The garments are available in flame and black.
The Fairview Wrap uses Polartec Thermal Pro fabric. It ties at the sternum for comprehensive coverage at full term, or at the sides for a snug, post-pregnancy fit, so the jacket is adjustable to all stages of pregnancy and beyond. The shawl collar fastens at the throat to keep out cold, while the fleece-lined hood and pockets provide extra warmth. A special buttonhole at the pocket hides the tie and accommodates an earpiece cord for a phone or MP3 player. It comes in charcoal grey, oatmeal and heather.
