New marketing director for Volvo Ocean Race

The Volvo Ocean Race has appointed Pedro Galván as its new marketing and communications director. He was formerly chief marketing officer of Euroleague Basketball for over five years and during this period he was also a member of the board of directors at the European Sponsorship Association.
On taking up the post, which is based at the race organiser’s headquarters in Alicante, Spain, he said: “I think the Volvo Ocean Race has huge potential to increase its growth on the world’s stage as a premier sporting event and I am looking forward to being an active part of this. I want to increase awareness of the race for all audiences across the board, not only for the sailing fans but also for the general public.”
