Triathlon attraction for Dunning

Although it’s mostly making a name for itself in the world of golf apparel, Canadian clothing brand Dunning Sportswear also has professional triathlete and Ironman world champion Craig Alexander on its list of sponsored athletes.
The sports apparel brand’s founder, Ralph Dunning, revealed recently that he places great value in the intense testing his company’s products undergo during a triathlon or Ironman event. He said: “We’re obviously thrilled to have Craig Alexander wearing our line. Craig really understands what Dunning is about in terms of premium technical fabrics and clean aesthetics. He’s constantly on the go, making appearances, training, travelling from race to race. He needs clothes that are easy to pack, totally functional and suited for almost any situation he might encounter. I really mean it when I say that Craig is everything Dunning represents.”
Mr Dunning said his copmany was preparing to launch a “tri race-specific apparel programme” in August. “These will be very premium pieces,” he explained. “We’ll be doing only a limited-edition run this year, with an eye toward a broader collection in 2011. Everything in the line will be made to the absolute highest quality standards. There was an 18 month engineering window to get the fabrics just right. Each piece is made in Toronto and hand-inspected. Initially, it will be available only in our Toronto retail store and through our website, where we’ll also be doing personal fittings via webcam.”
