Indian knitwear manufacturers move away from cotton

Knitwear manufacturers and exporters in India are increasingly choosing to use manmade fibres in place of cotton yarn, an industry body, the Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA), has said.
TEA president, A Shaktivel, told local media that, with synthetic fabrics, manufacturers will be able to produce a wider range of products, including winter wear and swimwear. He said there was only a three-month business window for cotton-based products.
