A baseball academy for children aged between eight and 18 has secured sponsorship from specialty-materials provider Rogers Corporation for a second successive year.

Rogers will offer sponsorship of the Dan Duquette Sports Academy through its Poron Performance Cushioning brand. The academy, which runs in Hindale, Massachusetts, from June to August, is a training centre that teaches a wide range of baseball and softball skills to young people.

On confirming this year’s sponsorship deal, Dave Sheman, new business development manager for Rogers’ high performance foams division, commented: “The Sports Academy is one of the state-of-the-art training facilities and we are excited to partner up with such a great operation. This partnership gives us the ability to educate future all-stars and their families about the advantages and safety aspects associated with using Poron Performance Cushioning and Poron XRD Extreme Impact Protection products.”

Rogers argues that Poron XRD offers athletes a protection advantage to traditional stiff and rigid padding. Soft and conforming when at rest, Poron XRD technology forms a protective shell around the athlete when suddenly impacted. It is also lightweight, breathable and will not break down or lose performance after multiple impacts, the company says.
