Reptile-inspired shoes from Mammut

Swiss outdoor brand Mammut has launched a series of new products, the most prominent of which is the Claw GTX Shoe.
The sole on the new footwear has what Mammut calls “a reptilian grip, inspired by lizards and geckos”, making it ideal for walking, trail running, approach, Nordic walking, travelling and biking. The sole has a claw and rib tread pattern that Mammut developed in co-operation with sole specialist Vibram.
The shoe’s upper is made from lightweight textile, combined with a PU mid-sole that provides extra protection and a lightweight EVA wedge for extra shock absorption, the shoes are also “100% waterproof and offer very good breathability”, according to Mammut. The shoe boasts a Base Fit feature for improved support and enhanced security as free-sliding webbing transfers the power from the lacing area to the sole.
