TMC launches apparel business unit

The Merino Company (TMC), an organisation that markets wool and wool products on behalf of growers in a number of countries, has launched a new business unit to provide natural fibre merino garment solutions to apparel retailers across Australasia.
Based in Christchurch, New Zealand the new business unit will complete the TMC supply chain, the group has said, by allowing it to promote merino “from source to shop”.
TMC Apparel will be run by a new team of garment specialists who have experience offering product innovation, design, style and technology.
The general manager will be Geoff Young, who has more than 20 years’experience in the apparel industry, having worked for global sportswear brands such as Reebok, Asics, adidas and Dunlop. He has a strong retail background having managed a nationwide retail chain and dealt extensively with a large number of Australasian retailers through involvement with clothing manufacturer Lane Walker Rudkin (LWR).
He is joined by business manager, Geoff Walls, another former LWR executive who also franchised and managed a Canterbury Of New Zealand retail store in central Auckland for 10 years, and apparel merchandiser, Susan Robinson, who has an extensive commercial background in the design and development of apparel ranges, most recently as senior designer for Christchurch-based outdoor brand Kathmandu Limited. She has five years’ experience of designing merino ranges.
