Swiss sourcing for Descente
29/04/2010
US cycling apparel and equipment brand Descente has focused on Switzerland to source the ingredients of its new Avanti collection. The company has used specialist material from knit fabric producer Eschler, as well as coldblack finishing technology from Schoeller Technologies. The clothing will go on sale this summer.
The collection comprises a jersey, bib and shorts made from an Eschler product called Flash, a double-layer knit fabric featuring polyester on the inside and polyamide on the outside. The company says the fabric offers high levels of moisture management functionality, that clothing made from it will dry in a flash (hence the name) and have good cooling properties. In addition, the polyamide outer offers high abrasion and pilling resistance.
The use of coldblack will give Avanti styles the ability to reduce heat absorbency in dark coloured textiles. Coldblack is said to cool up to 5°C and guarantee a high level of UV- protection.
