Speakers for Cannes textile conference announced
Organisers of TCL 2010, the International Textiles Coating and Laminating conference to be held in Cannes, France, on November 4-5 have announced the speakers that will participate at the event.
Professor Marc Van Parys, head of textile department and research laboratory TO2C at the University College Ghent, Belgium, will give a keynote speech entitled ‘Breakthrough Coating Technologies for Advanced Textiles’. He will discuss process and product innovations and how they will affect the coating and laminating industry.
The talk will touch upon technologies such as UV-coating, plasma coating, magnetron sputtering (nanocoating of inorganic coatings such as metallics), and digital coating. Product innovations will include adaptive polymers, nanotechnologies and chromic sensors.
Other presentations that have already been confirmed include: ‘Accepting the Challenge of Textile-based High Tech Products: Designing for Function’, by Melinda Wales, Reactive Surfaces (USA); ‘Innovative Finishing And Dyeing Technologies For Coating: Cost effective processes saving water, energy and waste’ by Mr I Juergen Hanel, sales executive, Coatema Coating Machinery (Germany); ‘Nano-Coating for Improved Textile Performance’ by Dr Delwyn Evans, P2i (UK); ‘ Advanced Textile Coatings Based On Sol-Gel And Plasma Technologies’ by Llorenç Bautista Pérez, Leitat, R&D department (Spain); and ‘Prepregging For Composites: An Opportunity for Coaters and Laminators’ by Francis Woodruff, chairman, Web Processing (UK).
