Li Ning to open flagship store in Malaysia

Chinese sports brand Li Ning is to open its first flagship store in Malaysia towards the end of this year. The company is currently looking for a suitable location in the Klang Valley, an area comprising Kuala Lumpur and its suburbs, and adjoining cities and towns in the state of Selangor.

Li Ning will open the store—its fourth overseas outlet—in partnership with Malaysian distributor Sunlight Marketing. Its other non-China stores are in Singapore, Hong Kong and the US.

According to Li Ning's general manager for South-East Asia operations, Vivien Lim, entry into the Malaysian market was a major step towards establishing a presence in the international market.

Its products are already available in Malaysia through Sunlight Marketing, and the company recently launched its badminton offering for the Malaysian market. It has high hopes this and the new store will have a really positive impact on sales.

Ms Lim said the company also hopes to expand into Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Philippines and India in the near future.
