Step up in orders at Xtep
Chinese sportswear and footwear manufacturer Xtep International recorded a 20% increase in orders to be delivered during the three months to December 2010 should rise more than 20% compared with the same period in 2009.
According to the company’s chairman and chief executive, Ding Shuipo, orders to be delivered during the first nine months of the year have already risen by 20%. He said there was no reason for orders to drop during the last three months. Prices have risen so far this year as demand for sportswear grows among increasingly health-conscious consumers.
The company recently announced it plans to open as many as 1,000 stores this year, taking the total to approximately 7,000. It is hoping to expand to some of China’s smaller cities as well as maintaining a significant presence in the biggest cities.
