Outdoor brand Berghaus has appointed Barry McGeough head of footwear and equipment.  Mr McGeough joins the company from The North Face, where he was vice president of hard goods (footwear and equipment). He is based at the company’s headquarters in Sunderland, UK.

Barry McGeough has worked in the footwear industry for 24 years and has been responsible for the design and manufacture of technical outdoor products for 14 years. Before joining The North Face, he was senior development director for Deckers’ Teva and UGG brands for almost a decade. He started his career in footwear with Dr Martens and then spent three years in London sourcing footwear for Shellys Shoes. Mr McGeough is originally from California and enjoys hiking, camping, backpacking and diving.

He says: “I love putting together technical product that addresses biomechanical problems, providing effective solutions for outdoor enthusiasts. The wonderful heritage and reputation of the Berghaus brand really attracted me. With over 40 years of unsurpassed experience, we are uniquely poised to become one of the dominant players in the global outdoor marketplace.

“The challenge that my team and I are tackling is to build the Berghaus brand by creating commercially appealing footwear and equipment lines with identities that are defined by technical innovations and solutions. Watching Berghaus achieve sales success through the flawless execution of that strategy will be the ultimate reward.”
