New Lenzing fibre at Techtextil North America
Austria-based Lenzing presented its new Lenzing FR fibre with an incorporated black dyestuff at Techtextil North America in Atlanta, Georgia (May 18-20).
According to the company, the fibre offers a range of advantages for both the textile industry and for wearers of protective clothing. It is, Lenzing claims, the first and only black, flame resistant textile cellulose fibre available.
The fibre maintains is tenacity, which creates a longer lifespan for the textile. It also offers a high level of light fastness and is not affected by perspiration.
Another important point the company makes is that the fibre is ecological. Water usage is reduced because the colour is directly injected into the spinning mass; no flock or yarn dyeing is required. Made from the natural raw material wood, it offers protection from heat stress in a variety of different applications.
