Bodsana launches yoga pant line
New York yogawear company Bodsana has launched a capsule collection of yoga pants designed for ordinary women.
Its yoga pants are designed to sit at the wearer’s natural waist, and the signature Elimiline pant comes with a built-in panty that extends to mid-thigh with a lace trim to create a streamline, slimming look with no lines.
Bodsana Founder Nancy Causey, co-owner of the Half Moon Yoga Barn in New York, saw a gap in the yogawear market for women of her age, who she describes as the “boomer babes” of the world.
“The Elimiline pant was created from a need; my need. Being a yoga teacher, I live in yoga pants and panty lines were a constant issue. I also have a small handlebar problem and I am also past wanting to show my navel. I was desperate for a stylish pant that would not hang too low,” Ms Causy explains.
The idea for Bodsana started when Nancy found a yoga pant that she loved because it sat at her natural waist. However, visible underwear lines and ‘handle bars’ continued to bother her. Around the same time she discovered a pair of underwear, both expensive and delicate, that held her in and didn’t produce unsightly panty lines. She asked a local dressmaker if the two garments could be merged into one. “The process wasn’t easy, but it was comfortable and flattering, and every time Nancy wore this pant someone would ask her if she had lost weight. This amused her at first and then she became inspired. The first Bodsana pants went into production at the beginning of 2009.
