Merino joint venture to extend selling ideas to meat

The chief executive of New Zealand Merino (NZM), John Brakenridge, has told local media that the sheep industry there has to change the way it brings its products, including wool, to market.

“It’s not what we’re selling, its how we’re selling it,” he said.

He said he intends replicating NZM’s fine-wool marketing model for meat, lanolin, leather and milk to make sure the industry has a healthy future.

NZM is a joint-venture between merino growers throughout New Zealand and agriculture supply company PGG Wrightson.
