New protective product for first responders

Dutch firm CT International has used specialist incident management trade fair Interschutz as the launch platform for a new high-tech protective product it has developed, the RescueProtectionSet.

The new product has been specially designed to protect firefighters and other emergency service workers who have to rescue casualties from vehicles that have been involved in an accident. Using RSQshield fabric from partner company TenCate Outdoor Fabrics, the product is intended as a cover for a vehice involved in an accident and for any victims injured at the scene.

TenCate explained at the launch that when first responders cut away the roof of a vehicle there are often dangerous sharp edges left. The RescueProtectionSet offers protection against these. It is lightweight and durable, and is also resistant to flames and sparks, the company said.
