FIFA signs deal for football breakthrough in India

On the day of the opening of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Amigo announced it had won the rights to manufacture, distribute and sell official FIFA merchandise across India. This will include setting up official FIFA retail stores in several major cities across India, starting with outlets in the Palladium and Oberoi shopping malls in Mumbai.
The company currently runs 49 sports stores across the country, but has said it intends to increase this to 100 before the end of 2010.
On concluding the deal, Amigo chairmna, Sanjiv Mehta, said: “We are excited at being the partner of choice to bring FIFA retail and lifestyle merchandise to India. FIFA is an iconic brand and has reached millions across the globe. In India football is fast becoming a huge draw and there is a huge following for the sport.
