CAMP sets up its own US subsidiary

Italian climbing equipment manufacturer CAMP has set up a US subsidiary with its headquarters near Boulder, Colorado. It will serve the US market exclusively.

CAMP has been distributing its products in the US through a number of different distribution channels since the late 1970s, most recently through an independent distribution company located in Broomfield, Colorado. By creating its own presence in the country and eliminating third-party distribution arrangements, the company believes that it will be better positioned to serve the market there.

“This is a great step for us,” said
CAMP’s president and chief executive, Eddy Codega, on annoncing the development. “We have been experiencing significant growth in recent years and this was a move we wanted to make to strengthen our position with and signal our continuing commitment to our US customers.

“Under the new structure, dealers can expect greater transparency with inventory, stronger ties with the brand, and an even deeper dedication to their success. Climbers can expect the same unparalleled innovation and quality they have come to expect from CAMP.”

The US operation will be managed by Jesse Mattner, director of sales and marketing, who has six years’ experience with CAMP. He said at the time of the announcement: “We are experiencing a robust spring sales season and are anticipating great success for the fall and winter seasons as well. Growth is exceeding our expectations with all of our accounts and we are seeing notable traction, particularly in areas like carabiners, quickdraws, helmets and harnesses.”

CAMP distributes its products in more than 80 countries worldwide.
