Rising labour costs to contribute to price-rise for clothing

The chief executive of apparel brand Perry Ellis International, George Feldenkreis, has said that clothing prices across the industry are likely to increase by 10% over the next two years because of the rising prices of raw materials and increasing labour costs in producing countries, particularly China.

Speaking at the Reuters Consumer and Retail Conference in New York, Mr Feldenkreis said: “Prices have to go up at some point. The consumer will have to pay higher prices.”
