Maratona cyclists to have new high-tech vest

Italian warp-knit fabrics producer Carvico is to be the official sponsor of the 2010 Maratona Dles Dolomites, a cycling road race open to both amateurs and professionals that takes place on a single day (July 4 this year) through seven spectacular mountain passes in the Dolomites in Italy.

For the occasion, Carvico has designd a high-performing technical garment, a cycling vest made from its Vuelta fabric. Each of the 9,000 cyclists from 30 countries taking part in the event will receive one of the vests.

The company describes the two-way stretch fabric as "perfect for the most demanding aerobic sports" because of its wicking qualities and the freedom of movement it offers.

Vuelta's stretch and shape retention have been certified by the Lycra Sport programme Carvico said on announcing the developmet. In addition, it has a light, soft, comfortable texture, offers thermal protection to help maintain a constant body temperature, a high level of breathability, resistance to pilling and abrasions, and odour protction. Like all Carvico fabrics, it is 100% made in Italy.
