U-Long signs up for SmartSilver

Widetech, a SmartSilver distributor in Taiwan, will provide the special additive to U-Long’s production facilities.
The fabric manufacturer's sales manager, Sunny Lin, said on announcing the development: “SmartSilver is cutting edge antimicrobial technology that clearly enhances our line of high-performance woven fabrics. It adds value for our customers and proven performance for their end users. The market wants added features and multiple benefits at a competitive price and with SmartSilver we continue to satisfy that demand.”
The antimicrobial additives are available in a range of formulations for both natural and synthetic fibres and fabrics. According to NanoHorizons, the technology provides highly durable, effective protection against bacteria and the odours and material degradation these microbes can cause. SmartSilver antimicrobial additives are approved by Oeko-Tex as free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances believed to be hazardous to human health. The additives are also registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency.
U-Long is a preferred fabric supplier to many major outdoor performance apparel brands in the US, Europe and Asia. Its fabrics are used in outerwear, performancewear, and equipment as well as in lining materials for footwear and sleeping bags.
