Nema signs BMX champion
California-based apparel manufacturer Nema International has added BMX star Steven Cisar to its Nema Team.
The deal with Mr Cisar, a multiple UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) World Championship medallist, signals an expansion for Nema into the growing BMX market. According to the company it is a segment that is currently underserved by existing apparel brands, which devote most of their efforts to the more visible motocross segment.
“We believe BMX riders shouldn’t have to settle for cookie-cutter products better suited for other sports with a BMX tag slapped on them. Core riders have always counted on Nema to offer the best quality and performance designed specifically for them,” owner Erick Kozin commented. “Steven is an amazing rider and great fit for the Nema brand. We are excited to have him be the first athlete signed to our new BMX programme and he will be an important part of our growth for many years.”
