05/07/2010

Outdoor company Jack Wolfskin is now a member of Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), an independent non-profit organisation that aims to improve working conditions in the clothing industry. It is supported by business associations in the textile industry as well as trade unions and non-governmental organisations. In order to become a member its business practices in Asia and at its headquarters in Idstein, Germany were assessed and verified.

CEO, Manfred Hell, said: "Jack Wolfskin has always taken its responsibility to the environment and to the people who manufacture our products very seriously, and considers it a fundamental prerequisite for successful company development.”

As a new member, the firm has accepted the FWF Code of Labour Practices, which, among other things, ensures that employment is freely chosen, that there is no exploitation of child labour, pays a living wage with reasonable working hours and offers safe and healthy working conditions.
