The company’s European arm, based in Germany, developed the idea. Managing director of Outlast Europe, Martin Bentz, said at the time of the launch: “We see again and again how essential it is to offer added value to the consumer. The best way to convince the consumer is to explain the performance and benefits of a smart product, which is then mirrored in successful sales numbers.”
The training is divided into the two versions, Basic and Advanced. After choosing a category —General, Apparel, Bedding and Footwear— the user can quickly click through seven chapters of information, complete with questions, feedback and tips for selling. At the end users can receive a certificate via post or mail and has the opportunity to win prizes by participating in a quiz to test their newly acquired knowledge.
According to Outlast, initial feedback about the training programme is extremely positive. “We are very proud of this new training tool—nothing else like it exists in the textile market,” said Barbara Fendt, marketing director of Outlast Europe, who was responsible for the project. “By supporting our licensees through to the retail environment, we can help them generate good sales. And that comes from presenting information about the benefits of climate regulation in a way that is easily understood by the consumer.”
