The Pakistani government’s Economic Coordination Committee has announced a series of changes in the import duty structure for a variety of important textile industry components.

Duty on pure terephthalic acid products has been reduced from 7.5% to 3% and the duty on fabric has also come down, from 15% to 10%.

On the other side of the coin, duties on polyester staple fibre imported into Pakistan has been increased from 4.5% to 6%, and on polyester filament yarn from 9% to 10%.
