USDA predicts record cotton exports next year for Zimbabwe

27/07/2010
According to the US Department of Agriculture, Zimbabwe is likely to achieve cotton exports of 408,000 bales in 2010–11, an increase of 20% on the current year, which closes at the end of July.

This should make Zimbabwe as significant an African exporter of cotton as Benin or Mali. This represents a significant success story for agriculture in Zimbabwe following a sharp decline in the country’s wheat and corn crops.
