A research team at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, has taken forward an idea for putting nanoparticles of gold and silver into merino wool fibres and is now looking for investment partners to help it commercialise the concept.

Four years ago, Professr Jim Johnston came up with the idea of putting gold nanoparticles into fine merino wool with a view to making fabrics for the luxury-end market.

He said his team was now looking for investment partners at home and overseas to take the idea "from the lab into business development".
