Icebreaker launches Realfleece

17/09/2010
New Zealand-based Icebreaker has launched Realfleece, a natural alternative to a synthetic fleece for men and women. Made from merino from the country’s Southern Alps, it can be worn for everyday warmth or for outdoor events in cold environments.
According to Icebreaker, the fleece is not itchy and doesn’t hold odour but is breathable and naturally warm. And, because of the company’s Baacode traceability programme, consumers can trace the fibre that’s in every Icebreaker Realfleece back to the farm where it was grown. Every Icebreaker garment has a unique Baacode sewn inside, which can be entered online, taking consumers to meet the growers and see inside the factories where the merino was cleaned, spun and sewn. Furthermore, when the garment is worn out, it can be composted into the soil, unlike synthetics.
