More durable spikes at Akadema
New Jersey-based baseball and softball equipment company Akadema has launched new Zero Gravity Spikes for 2011. According to the company, the 2010 of the shoe was the most popular and successful it had ever made.
The new version will feature the same scuff-resistant toe to minimise wear and tear and a similar sleekness of design. It will use a hook-and-loop cross-training strap to make the spike more secure and to enable easier pivots and cuts.
New for 2011 is the addition of nubuck leather for extra durability for both baseball and softball players. The first shipments will be available from November.
Akadema has been endorsed by a number of MLB (Major League Baseball) players including Manny Ramirez, Shane Victorino, Cameron Maybin, Ross Ohlendorf, Vin Mazzaro, Brad Ziegler, Craig Breslow, David Murphy, Brandon McCarthy, Derek Holland and Jose Guillen.
