Vietnam’s textile sector showing steady growth

According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), things are looking up in terms of overall exports, with particularly strong growth for the textile and garment industry.  

The country’s export earnings are expected to total $6.1 billion in September, bringing the total export turnover for the past nine months to $51.5 billion, up 20.5% year-on-year.

The garment and textile sector is expected to record exports of more than $7.5 billion for the nine-month period, up 17% year-on year. With its main export destinations in the US, Japan and the EU, the sector is expected to exceed its $10.5 billion target for the year.
